Grading the Bears 2024 Draft Class: Chicago is once again offseason winners, now they need to prove it on the field
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears have capped off another successful draft class under general manager Ryan Poles and the future of the team is finally set.

The Bears offense will be headlined by quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receivers DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze. On defense, Matt Eberflus' unit added a future star in the fifth round after the team moved back into the draft.

Overall the Bears came away with five new stars on the roster while adding impact players on all three aspects of the team. Here's how I'd grade the Bears' draft class.

1st Overall Pick: QB Caleb Williams, USC

This could easily go down as the most important draft pick in the history of the Chicago Bears if Caleb Williams becomes the player everyone expects him to.

As one of the best quarterback prospects in recent memory, it finally feels like the Bears got it right this time and found their true franchise quarterback. We all know the Bears have never had a 4,000-yard passer or a quarterback throw for 30+ touchdowns in a season. It's only a matter of time until Williams achieve those feats.

Williams is a special player, teammate, and person. There couldn’t be a better player to help lead the city of Chicago to new heights, and it'll be done sooner than you think.

Final Grade: A+

9th Overall Pick: WR Rome Odunze, Washington

After much debate about whether or not the Bears will move from the ninth overall pick, Ryan Poles stayed put and took one of the best wide receivers in the class in Washington Rome Odunze.

Odunze will now officially join the wide receiver room with DJ Moore and Keenan Allen giving the Bears easily the best wide receiver trio in the entire league. Odunze will now start on the outside opposite of Moore with Allen in the slot for the Bears.

Odunze recently linked up with both star wide receivers and the team's new starting quarterback ahead of the draft for a throwing session. The writing has always been all over the wall and now Oduzne will help take this offense to a new level.

Final Grade: A

75th Overall Pick: Kiran Amegadjie

The Bears have long been on the offensive tackle radar in this class since the beginning of the process so it's not a surprise to see the team finally snag one with one of their three draft selections.

Braxton Jones is a serviceable left tackle at the present moment but doesn’t appear to be in the Bears' long-term plans. By drafting Kiran Amegadjie, the Bears get the best of both worlds by adding a player who needs some major development and recovery time allowing Jones to continue to start in 2024.

However, eventually this job will go to Amegadjie considering how high the Bears thought of him and how high the drafted him in the third round.

Final Grade: B-

122nd Overall Pick: Tory Taylor

With the final pick in the class, the Bears added an absolute weapon to the roster in Iowa punter Tory Taylor.

The Bears were abysmal in the punting department during the 2023 season with Trenton Gill ranking last in the NFL in punt net average. Taylor ranked sixth in the same category during the 2023 season with the Hawkeyes.

Taylor single-handedly kept Iowa in many games they had no business being in last season and even won games for the team in some cases with his leg. This is going to be a heavily underrated selection that could have massive dividends for the team, even though the positional value is less than ideal with the teams last pick in the draft.

Final Grade: C

144th Overall Pick: DE Austin Booker

After trading a future fourth round pick to move back into the 2024 NFL Draft, the Bears adding a developmental edge rusher in Austin Booker.

The Bears were very high on Booker after bringing him in for a Top-30 visit late in the draft process and fell in love with what he could become at the next level.

Booker was relatively inexperienced as an edge rusher after playing mainly off the bench for Kansas but still recorded 8.0 sacks in 2023. If Booker can develop into a legitimate playmaker at the next level, the Bears will have a solid one-two punch off the edge with Booker and Montez Sweat.

Final Grade: B+

Final Draft Class Grade

The Bears ended up with a really solid draft class coming away with five potential Day 1 starters. The duo of Williams and Odunze is exciting alone and should warrant a top grade. The later additions of Tory Taylor at punter and Austin Booker at defensive end will also give the Bears two other exciting rookies to root for. As for Kiran Amegadjie, this class could become a massive success if he becomes the long-term left tackle.

Final Grade: A-
