NFL analyst predicts Bengals QB Joe Burrow will lead NFL in this category in 2024

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is coming off of a nightmarish 2023 campaign that was marred due to a couple of different injuries.

Burrow started the season with a calf issue that he initially sustained during training camp. It carried over through the first several weeks of the regular season and was clearly limiting him, but eventually, he shook it off and started to find his groove.

But just as Burrow was really getting his sea legs, he suffered a wrist injury in Week 11 that knocked him out for the remainder of the season.

The 27-year-old underwent surgery to repair the issue back in November and seems to be making great progress. At this rate, he should absolutely be ready for Week 1.

Apparently, Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport is feeling very confident in Burrow and is projecting the signal-caller to lead the NFL in passing yards next season.

This would obviously require a fully healthy campaign from Burrow, which is something the LSU product has struggled with over his first four NFL seasons.

A knee injury limited him to just 10 games during his rookie campaign, and the wrist issue kept him sidelined for the final seven contests of 2023.

When healthy, however, there is no doubt that Burrow is one of the game’s best quarterbacks, so Davenport’s prediction is hardly outlandish.

In his sophomore season in 2021, Burrow threw for 4,611 yards, 34 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing a league-high 70.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 108.3. Most importantly, he led the Bengals all the way to the Super Bowl.

The following year, Burrow made his first Pro Bowl appearance after totaling 4,475 yards, 35 touchdowns and 12 picks while completing 68.3 percent of his throws and registering a 100.8 passer rating.

Through 10 games last season, the Ames, Ia. native recorded 2,309 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions. He completed 66.8 percent of his passes and tallied a passer rating of 91.

Cincinnati nearly made the playoffs in 2023 even with Burrow sidelined, going 9-8.

With Joe Burrow on the mend, the Bengals could end up back among the NFL’s elite in 2024. However, given the fact that they play in the rugged AFC North division, it will not be an easy task.
